How long after whitening can I have my fillings replaced?
2 weeks is the recommended time to wait between doing any whitening (including the take home options) and bonding white fillings to the same teeth. Hydrogen peroxide has a high oxygen content and decreases the bonding ability of the fillings. This can over time cause leakage around the margins of the fillings and decay.
It’s always best to whiten first and then replace the fillings. This way you can get the colour perfect and then match the fillings to the new whiter tooth colour. Posterior teeth that aren’t included in the bleaching process can be filled at any stage.
Teeth that are going to be crowned and veneered should not be whitened but you will need to let the colour of the adjacent teeth settle first before matching and choosing the shade of the new dental work. It’s advisable to combine take home whitening with each in chair whitening treatment to ensure the colour holds, before going onto the monthly maintenance. This is especially important when you are doing permanent anterior dental work and you need the colour to be as stable as possible.

Emma King who heads our clinical training offers full day hands on courses and all practices starting out receive hands on training in their practices. Emma is also available 7 days a week to answer any questions you might have. We regularly offer webinars to keep all our practices up to date with the latest info.
We provide brochures for your waiting room as well as a pull up banner for the entrance area. We have an active social media presence and promote our practices on these platforms too.
